Non-Running Awesomeness

Okay, so my running streak has gone to crap.  And by crap, I mean complete and utter crap.  I haven't run for four days in a row, and I'm starting to feel like an imposter in my own flabby body.  BUT, I have a very good reason.  My daughter and I got hit by a nasty stomach bug.  I began feeling icky on Thursday, and I didn't feel "right" again until this morning.  Strangely, the boys didn't get it at all.  I think it was a secret plot to not have to listen to the treadmill anymore, and my daughter was an unforeseen casualty.  But in the midst of all of the ugliness that this house has seen the past few days, I still have a few nice things to share.

First off, I have an amazing new love for our sweet kitty.  Sunshine has become more of a family member and less of a pet over the last week, for sure.  She stayed next to my daughter the ENTIRE time she was sick.  Even when I was off caring for the toddler (who handled it all amazingly well) or caring for my own sick self, Sunshine was right by my daughter's side.
Asleep on our (dirty) sofa, in a princess dress, kitty by her side.

Another cool thing is that I think I have Christmas shopping almost finished for the kids!  I've gotten the lists basically finalized, and Amazon Prime has become one of my bestest holiday friends.  Our daughter will get an Easy Bake Ultimate Oven (which we'll create our own non-disgusting recipes for), some butterfly wings, a yoga mat, and possibly some Bella Ballerina flats.  Our son will get a stand n' play raceway, a stuffed Millenium Falcon (I feel awesome for finding that!), a music kit, and a fridge magnet game.  They'll have a few other small gifts, and the big one this year is a joint present--a play kitchen!  They'll open it and all the awesome accoutrements together, I can't wait!  They have a kitchen setup now, but it makes me sad.  This one will be so much better.

Fitness awesome is that I got my PiYo training course in the mail on Friday!  I cannot wait to start perfecting my moves (mostly yoga, some pilates, all great stuff!) and studying the materials.  I can do a written test or take a live class at the end, and I'll do my best to find a live class near me to make it more exciting.  I'm really pumped about this!

Final awesome is that it's Sew, Mama, Sew! Giveaway Day--an organized giveaway hosted by my favorite sewing blog.  Now, you don't have to be a crafter to love this; there are tons of things for everyone!  Some of the things people are giving away include handbags, scarves, pillowcases, onesies, and baby dolls!  Now, I realize that by telling you all this, it lessens my chances of winning.  But I feel the need to share, as our Advent calendar today says that it's "Kindness Day", and I think it wouldn't be very kind for me to hoard the winning chances.  So head over there and check out the lists of awesome giveaways that last all week long!

That's what I got for now.  Hopefully the kids will let me hop on the treadmill this evening and start my running streak back at day one.  I think I'll push for a month starting today, as the "requirement" of a mile a day really does make me feel great.  I've had restless legs the past few nights just because of lack of activity!  In fact, that makes me think that I need to start a New Year's Exercise Challenge for us all......!

  1. Hope you are on the mend and can get back to streaking! Interested to follow along with your PIYO training. I think a New Years Challenge sounds perfect - it's so hard over the holidays!
