Five Things Friday

1.  I know I said I'd be doing Wearable Wednesdays and FoodDay Fridays, but I decided that I'd like to approach it differently now.  I'll still do those...but on a different blog.  I've decided to make a family fitness blog, and it will be debuted on Monday!!!!!!!  I'm super stoked!  I'll still keep writing a bit about my running endeavors here for the time being, but I may do some double-posting as well.  If enough people like that blog as much, this one will just be moved over there.  I'll let you know the down-low on Monday, after I send my newly-five-year-old off to Princess Dance Camp of course.

2.  Omg!!!!  I won a pair of Pearl Izumi trail running shoes from The Boring Runner!  I've won two things in the past week (also a BondiBand from She Runs Everywhere, yay!), so I'm feeling ridiculously lucky right now (enough so that Hubby just bought me a powerball ticket).  It came at a time that I was considering backing down on running for a bit, and to me this  feels like karma telling me that I need to keep it up.  And by golly, I always listen to karma!  (Oh, and believe it or not, I don't enter every contest out there.  I just follow a lot of blogs.  And once I win from someone, I stop entering their contests so I can give other people a chance.  I'm super nice that way.)

3.  This week hasn't been to extraordinary, as far as training has gone.  I've only run seven miles, three of which were on the treadmill.  For National Running Day (Wednesday), I took the kids out in the jogger.  It was the first time in a while since it wasn't disgustingly humid or hot outside.  They've gained weight, or I've forgotten how hard pushing that beast is, because it was a beotch of a run.  I tried to do burpees between my miles to make it extra tough, but I reopened the hole in my hand and nixed the idea very quickly.  Bummer.

4.  I'm signed up for a fun virtual race put on by my pal Toni at Running, Loving, Living.  I'll be doing both the 5k and the 10k, and you should do at least one of them with me!  She has a lot of fun prizes, and it's a great way to force yourself out there during the summer heat.  And, seriously, a free race WITH prizes and a week to complete it?!  No reason not to do this!

5.  My big girl's birthday is on Monday, and I'm sooooooooo excited/freaked-the-hell-out/angry-at-time-for-going-too-fast/happy for her!  Her birthday party in on Sunday at an awesome nature museum, and we're having some of our best friends from Germany (who now live in NC, small world!) over for the weekend.  I think it will be such a special time!  I'm so amazed that it's already been five years since holding my tiny little baby in my arms and feeling that amazing love for the first time.  I've loved the ride, and I'm so excited for all the years to come.  I don't see that she could possibly get more amazing, but she never ceases to amaze me.  I'll post some sappy photos on the new blog (and this one too, probably) on Monday.  Let the birthday celebrations commence!
Full of smiles, even as a newborn!  Or full of gas.  Either way...
